I was sincerely hoping that this year would be a little calmer and quieter, but I should know better by now.... don't get me wrong. I'm not complaining! I like to be busy - it keeps life interesting. But, I do wish I could learn to relax a little more and play video games all day like my husband can!
The baby season has kicked off, albeit on a rough start. The incubator came unplugged for a few days, and I had only thought it was one. This gave some unexpected and very sad results from the eggs it was holding, and I feel terrible that I've learned yet another lesson the hard way.
The last of the eggs from that experience are dealt with, however, so I can move onto happier (and healthier) futures!
I'm ectstatic that my het amel AFT has proven out, and surprised at the het amel I didn't know I had! I received some beautiful ladies from Troglodyte Photography, and while he suspected he was carrying more genetics, I'm not sure he knew exactly what. Either way, I'm very happy with the resulting striped amel. Sorry, folks, this one I'm hanging onto!
After the serious lack of eggs from my AFT group last year, I am surprised how many are dropping this time. They kicked off the season with no hesitation, and are in full swing. The leos took a little longer, and one group longer yet while I put weight on the male, but everyone is now in full breeding season and eggs are multiplying. I'm very excited for the possibilities and can't wait for them to start hatching! (Hopefully by the tme I'm done with my holdbacks I'll even have some for sale. ;) )
I also have two gravid cornsnakes (butter x charcoal motley and normal x frosted amel) and fingers are crossed for the uros to pull through with something. I have noticed breeding activity with the uros, and plenty of digging in the lay boxes, so we're hoping we can pull this off. I am a huge fan, so baby uros will definitely make my day! The Kenyan Sand boa babies I had been expecting never came, but a new female is ready to go and was caught locked on the 15th.
I've been asked why I haven't booked tables at the various events this year. As you can probably tell with my limited updates and posts, I simply am limited on time. We will be continuing to attend the WCRE in Red Deer, but other shows we will be avoiding simply due to time constraints. If something happens and we are so able, this may change, but no more prebooking for this gal. Day at a time....
