“A blog is an ideal way of doing a brain dump on a daily basis of what is going on right now, the weird, the exciting and the awful things ... I also wanted to have a record for myself, just for posterity.” ~David Adams

And so comes and goes "SnapDragonz's" first show and sale! I have to admit -- I didn't expect it to go nearly as well as it did, and I'm so happy for how it turned out, on several levels.
The last couple of weeks have been insanely busy. This is welcomed, mind you, but I simply didn't quite expect it. It's nice to know that my services are needed, however, as I was worried that this endeavour would flop miserably. Out of everything, though, including a few mistakes both on my end and my feeder suppliers, everything has turned out really well, and I've only known about one unhappy customer, who was simply having a bad day to begin with. Since then, many changes have been made, all of which I believe are improvements to the way things are run.
Planning the ERAS spring show and sale has proven to be enlightening, as well. Thankfully, I'll soon be finished with my "real" job so I may concentrate on my own business, as it has been picking up tremendously. There were a few mistakes made at the show itself, however everything seemed to work out very well, and after the bumps were smoothed out the flow was incredible. I love to see people working together, and I love to see them working WELL together even more. THis weekend was, for the most part, drama free, which was the biggest and best goal I could have hoped to achieve. I'm grateful that everyone was able to find a way to get along.
Now that it's over, though, doesn't mean that things slow down... I still have to get ready for the Calgary show this weekend with both mine and ERAS stuff, but thankfully there will be two of us to cover the ERAS table. I've also already spent my "budget" on more tailess whipscorpions, as they are difficult to come by. This is a trio of adults, so here's hoping I can get my own colony started! The idea in itself is very exciting, as they really are some of the most amazing animals I have ever experienced. This is the reason we are trying to breed specific creatures, though -- they are too amazing to not share! My worries include how they'll be cared for, obviously, but hopefully I can ensure the people who make homes for them know what they are doing, and will do what they can to make sure the animals have a proper setup.
So once my deliveries are done on Wednesday, and pick ups on Thursday, I'll be leaving for Calgary Friday afternoon to try to relax that night before heading to the hall to setup on Saturday morning. It will be nice to be able to hang out at my own table and chat with the patrons. After that, Dave and I are taking a much needed mini-vacation to Montana, just for the hell of it. Do some shopping and such before heading home again, and then we can bring our uromastyx and African Fat tails home!! I'm very much looking forward to them all!!
Also, now that the herpstat pros are acquired, I've sent another email off to Boaphile to check on shipping costs. Between the racks I want from them, possibly Greg West, and the large ones Neil W. will be making for the monitor and iguanas and such, I'll be set! I can't wait to have finally achieved the dream I've been working on for ten years, and it's an exciting step for me.
